The task at hand is not merely to collect data, but to provide information that will serve as the foundation for regional and national development. Deputy for Social Statistics at BPS RI, Nashrul Wajdi, stated in Gorontalo on Monday that the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) is a collective effort involving all elements of society, and its results will be utilised to improve public welfare. “This activity is very important, and it will have an impact or benefit for the community in every region in Indonesia, especially in Gorontalo Province,” Nashrul said. He expressed appreciation to the Gorontalo Provincial Government, district and city governments, elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), Bank Indonesia, vertical agencies, universities, and the mass media for their support in preparing for the census. According to Nashrul, the success of the census heavily depends on the synergy of all stakeholders, including field officers who are beginning to be deployed across various areas in Gorontalo Province. He stressed that the census officers are the spearhead of data collection, carrying a great responsibility to produce accurate and accountable data. “The task they carry is not just about collecting data, but also presenting information that will become the basis for regional and national development,” he stated. Therefore, Nashrul reminded all officers to maintain integrity, professionalism, and objectivity, as well as to adhere to the statistical code of ethics while carrying out their duties in the field. Additionally, officers are asked to establish good communication with the public and business actors to ensure the data collected is complete, valid, and reflects the actual conditions. BPS also invites the public and business actors in Gorontalo Province to welcome the census officers and provide correct, complete, and honest information in accordance with their business conditions. Nashrul is optimistic that the implementation of SE2026 in Gorontalo will proceed smoothly with the support of all parties and produce quality data to support more targeted development planning. “BPS is optimistic that with strong synergy between the government, the business world, the community, and all stakeholders, the implementation of SE2026 in Gorontalo Province will run smoothly and successfully, and provide a great impact on development,” he said. The Economic Census 2026 is a national agenda conducted every ten years to capture the condition and structure of the Indonesian economy as a basis for formulating development policies across various sectors.
