BPPT to set up business center

JAKARTA: The Agency for the Assessment and Application of
Technology (BPPT) signed on Wednesday a memorandum of
understanding with venture capitalist PT Bahana Artha Ventura and
the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to establish a business
technology center.

The center is aimed at developing small- and medium-scale
enterprises (SME) through the application of science and
technology.

BPPT chairman M. Hatta Radjasa, who is also State Minister of
Research and Technology, said the center would provide SMEs with
assistance in accounting, legal affairs, communication, promotion
and marketing.

ITB is supporting the program with technology and experts,
while Bahana will raise funds and manage the finances of
enterprises assisted by the center.

Bahana has earmarked around Rp 2 billion in initial capital
for the program. -- JP
