BPPB Collaborates with Universities in Aceh to Strengthen Language
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa (BPPB) of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has established a collaboration with the Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Takengon to strengthen the Indonesian language.
BPPB Head Hafidz Muksin in Banda Aceh on Monday stated that the partnership with the higher education institution is an effort to enhance literacy among students and the general public.
“We are building a collaboration with IAIN Takengon in the development and strengthening of language to improve literacy for both students and the community,” he said.
According to him, this language collaboration is a manifestation of universal participation, where the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education continues to enhance collaboration with all education stakeholders.
Hafidz said the partnership with higher education institutions is also an effort to improve human resource quality through literacy, both in reading and writing.
In addition, the collaboration with universities is part of safeguarding the sovereignty of the Indonesian language. Especially now, there is widespread use of Indonesian that does not adhere to proper rules, which threatens the sovereignty of the Indonesian language itself.
“This collaboration with higher education institutions is also an effort to preserve local languages through in-depth studies on the mother tongues in the area,” said Hafidz Muksin.
Rector of IAIN Takengon Prof Ridwan Nurdin appreciated the collaboration with BPPB. Because this partnership strengthens mastery of the Indonesian language among the academic community of IAIN Takengon in Central Aceh Regency.
“We welcome the collaboration with the Language Agency because it can strengthen the academic community’s understanding of the Indonesian language, especially in scientific writing,” he said.
