BPOM Signs MoU to Strengthen Family Role in Drug and Food Safety
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has entered into a strategic collaboration with the central Family Empowerment and Welfare Team (TP PKK) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the family’s role in ensuring the safety and quality of food and medicines.
BPOM Head Taruna Ikrar said the family serves as the first line of defence in safeguarding and building the nation’s health. Given that TP PKK has an extensive organisational network reaching down to village level, the body is regarded as a strategic partner for BPOM in raising public literacy.
“BPOM not only carries out a supervisory function but also acts as a development partner. Together with TP PKK, we want to ensure that the public has access to safe, high-quality and efficacious medicines, cosmetics and food,” he said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The scope of the cooperation agreed covers three main focuses: strengthening communication, information and education (KIE) on drug and food safety, as well as building the capacity of PKK cadres so they can act as facilitators and specialist cadres in the field.
The signing ceremony coincided with the peak of the 54th anniversary of PKK’s Unity of Movement Day (HKG), which carries the theme “Strengthen the Ten Core PKK Programmes, Implement the Asta Cita, Realise Golden Indonesia 2045”. BPOM is one of nine strategic partners trusted to enter into cooperation agreements with TP PKK to reinforce family resilience in the health sector.
Through this collaboration, each party is fully committed to mutual support in realising the consumption of safe, high-quality and beneficial products at the smallest unit of society, namely the family.
“This agreement is expected to lay a strong foundation ahead of the great vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 through improving human quality of life from an early stage,” he said.
Echoing this view, the Chairwoman of TP PKK Central, Tri Suswati Tito Karnavian, welcomed the synergy and outlined the enormous potential of the organisation she leads. Based on the village and neighbourhood profile data of the Ministry of Home Affairs for 2026, the PKK organisational network spans 38 provinces, 514 regencies and cities, and 43,792 villages and neighbourhoods across the country.
There are currently 6,364,671 TP PKK cadres throughout Indonesia, she said. With such a massive structure, these cadres are ready to be mobilised in the field to support the success of the joint drug and food supervision programme with BPOM, directly from the smallest unit of society.
Through this strong partnership, BPOM and TP PKK are committed to safeguarding public health starting from the family unit, while also driving micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME)-based economic growth in support of Golden Indonesia 2045.
