BPOM Holds One Stop Services in Surabaya to Accelerate Product Innovation Permits

The Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) continues to strengthen its commitment to encouraging the emergence of superior domestic products. This strategic move was realised through the organisation of One Stop Services for the registration of Natural Medicines (OBA), Quasi-drugs (OK), Health Supplements (SK), and Cosmetics, held on 8–9 July 2026 at the BPOM Surabaya office. The initiative, spearheaded by the Directorate of Registration and the Directorate of Standardisation of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics, aims to cut through bureaucratic red tape. Through this service, business operators gain easier access to accelerate the issuance of Marketing Authorisation Numbers (NIE) with direct assistance from the regulator. Deputy for the Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics, Mohamad Kashuri, emphasised that BPOM wants to ensure that the results of the nation’s research do not just remain in the laboratory. “We are ready to assist business operators, from regulatory compliance to the registration process, so that research results can quickly become products that are safe, high-quality, efficacious, and able to compete in the market,” he stated. The event also served to strengthen synergy between the central BPOM and Technical Implementation Units (UPT) in the East Java region. Head of BPOM Surabaya, Yudi Noviandi, stated that the presence of this service makes BPOM more responsive to the needs of business operators in the regions. Furthermore, BPOM is expanding collaboration with academia through a partnership with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Airlangga University. Through a coaching clinic and the BRIDGE innovation assistance programme, BPOM is working to ensure that campus innovation products meet regulatory standards from the early stages of development. With this integrated service, it is hoped that business operators’ compliance with safety and quality standards will increase, allowing Indonesian products not only to thrive in the national market but also to possess strong competitiveness on the global stage.
