JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) discovered several violations relating to food products during a direct inspection at Lotte Grosir Pasar Rebo in East Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“From today’s inspection of various products, generally they comply with regulations. However, we did find several issues,” said BPOM Head Tarunan Ikrar at Lotte Grosir Pasar Rebo on Monday.

Ikrar explained that one finding involved Ommason Mat branded products in 215-gram and 32-gram packaging whose distribution permits had expired.

“Additionally, Pempek products were found to display distribution permit numbers belonging to other products. The frozen warehouse is also overloaded, with product stacks reaching the ceiling, which can affect temperature and damage product quality,” he stated.

Beyond physical product inspection, BPOM also collected numerous food samples sold at Lotte Grosir Pasar Rebo for further testing. A total of 40 product samples suspected of containing harmful preservatives or colourants were identified.

“Our team also conducted sample testing using a mobile laboratory vehicle on 40 product samples suspected of containing harmful substances. Alhamdulillah, all results were negative and met safety standards for consumption,” he said.

Previously, BPOM conducted a food inspection at Lotte Grosir Pasar Rebo ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. During the operation, BPOM also brought a mobile laboratory to conduct food sample testing directly on site.
