BPOLBF promotes sustainable tourism villages in Flores at Bali event

Kupang (ANTARA) - Labuan Bajo Flores Authority Board (BPOLBF) has promoted sustainable tourism villages in Flores at the 4th Edition of The Meru Eco Tourism Week held at the Bali Beach Convention Center in Sanur, Bali.

Acting CEO of BPOLBF Andhy MT Marpaung, in a statement received in Kupang on Sunday, said the participation was part of BPOLBF’s efforts to strengthen Labuan Bajo-Flores as a sustainable tourism destination through community-based tourism, environmental conservation, and local economic empowerment.

“There are three tourism villages being promoted: Warloka Tourism Village, Wae Lolos Tourism Village, and Rangko Hamlet in Tanjung Boleng Village,” he said.

“These three tourism villages offer authentic nature- and culture-based experiences while supporting environmental conservation efforts,” he added.

“Our participation in The Meru Eco Tourism Week is a strategic step to introduce a new face of Flores tourism that is more diverse, sustainable, and community-based,” he said.

“In addition to promoting tourism villages, BPOLBF also introduced alternative travel options such as the Nine Summits Flores trekking route, cross-Flores travel packages, and the development of Catholic religious tourism in collaboration with several dioceses in Flores.”

“According to Andhy, these alternative destinations are expected to distribute tourist movement more evenly while encouraging visitors to stay longer and explore various regions of Flores.”
