BPN: Land Sale and Purchase Transactions Most Dominant Issue in the Islands

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The North Jakarta National Land Agency (BPN) has stated that the land issues most frequently encountered in island areas are land sale transactions and the upgrading of rights from Building Use Rights (HGB) to Freehold Title Certificates (SHM).

“Land problems on the islands generally relate to sale transactions and the upgrading of rights from HGB to SHM,” said North Jakarta BPN representative Ranum during a socialisation event on Sabira Island, Thousand Islands, on Friday.

For this reason, he urged all members of the public to download the “Sentuh Tanahku” application to monitor certificate information and other land services online.

According to him, every process involving waqf, grants, or land inheritance must be formalised through a deed drawn up by a Land Deed Official (PPAT). Likewise, deeds of sale must be acknowledged by the neighbourhood and sub-district heads as part of the administrative requirements.

In addition, he said, HGB certificates should also be checked regularly to ensure they do not expire.

“The public can use the Sentuh Tanahku application to monitor the status or requirements of their certificates,” said Ranum.

During the event, residents of Sabira Island raised a number of issues they face, including those relating to the upgrading of land rights status.

As is known, residents of the outermost island in the DKI Jakarta region, namely Sabira Island, Pulau Harapan Urban Village, Thousand Islands, enjoyed the Mobile Integrated Services (PTK) organised by the Thousand Islands PMPTSP Service Unit through the Peduli Pulau programme on 23-24 July 2026.

“The two-day event received an enthusiastic response from residents who made use of various administrative and licensing services, ranging from consultations to the processing of licensing documents,” said Head of the Thousand Islands PMPTSP Service Unit, Wachid Wahyudi.
