Deputy for State Accountants at the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), Iwan Taufiq Purwanto, has stressed the urgent need for integrated oversight of the government’s various credit programme schemes. ‘The increasing variety of government credit programme schemes requires integrated supervision so that development objectives can be achieved effectively, accountably, and on target,’ he said during the 2026 People’s Business Credit (KUR) Supervision Coordination Forum (Forkorwas), as quoted from an official BPKP statement on Monday. Beyond KUR, he noted that the government is currently developing other financing schemes, such as Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Credit (Alsintan), Labour-Intensive Industry Credit (KIPK), and Housing Programme Credit. Each scheme has strategic objectives, ranging from expanding financing access for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and supporting food security, to increasing industrial productivity and accelerating the provision of housing for the public. According to Iwan, this diversity of programmes must be balanced with strengthened oversight mechanisms through a Supervision Coordination Forum that focuses not only on KUR but also encompasses all government credit programmes. He therefore encouraged strengthening the governance of government credit programme supervision through cross-sector collaboration. ‘Supervision is not only directed at compliance with regulations but also at ensuring the achievement of outputs and outcomes so that every programme truly benefits the community and supports national development goals,’ he said. Chair of the Financial Services Authority Audit Board, Sophia Isabella Wattimena, also conveyed the urgency of synergy and collaboration in supervision so that KUR can be effective, well-targeted, high-quality, and sustainable. ‘Lending to the MSME sector up to May 2026 continues to show a positive trend. MSME credit was recorded at approximately Rp1,509.7 trillion, or about 16.93 percent of total national banking credit. This growth was mainly driven by an increase in credit in the micro and small business segments,’ Sophia revealed. The 2026 KUR Forkorwas established four follow-up priorities to strengthen governance, improve distribution quality, and ensure the KUR programme delivers optimal benefits for MSME players and the national economy.
