BPKP Secures House Commission XI Support to Oversee National Priority Programmes
The Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP) has secured the support of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to continue strengthening its internal government oversight role in safeguarding national priority programmes. The endorsement emerged during a working meeting between Commission XI and BPKP to discuss the agency’s 2025 Financial Report.
During the meeting, BPKP presented its financial management performance, oversight results, and contributions to promoting accountable and effective governance. BPKP Head Muhammad Yusuf Ateh noted that the agency received an unqualified opinion (WTP) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) for the 18th consecutive year. Additionally, the 2025 Financial Report for ADB Loan No. 3872-INO, concerning the State Accountable Revitalization Additional Financing (STAR AF) Project, also achieved an unqualified opinion.
Reviewing its oversight performance, BPKP’s 2025 budget of Rp2.4 trillion yielded financial contributions to the state and regions amounting to Rp53.36 trillion. Throughout 2025, BPKP conducted 11,407 assurance activities and 1,415 consulting activities, achieving a budget realisation of 95.35 percent of the total allocated ceiling. Ateh also highlighted that BPKP received various accolades for its performance in 2025, including awards in state financial and asset management, human capital management, and public information transparency, alongside five other awards reflecting improved organisational governance quality.
During the response session, several Commission XI members voiced their support for strengthening BPKP’s role. Commission XI member Didik Haryadi backed the institutional strengthening of BPKP, stating that as the government’s internal oversight apparatus accountable to the President, BPKP holds a strategic position in escorting national priority programmes to ensure faster and more effective supervision. Fellow member Anis Byarwati stressed that BPKP’s success in maintaining an unqualified opinion for 18 consecutive years must be accompanied by intensified guidance for ministries, agencies, and regional governments. She noted that such assistance is expected to enhance the maturity of the Government Internal Control System (SPIP), thereby minimising the risk of budget leakage through stronger control systems. Meanwhile, Commission XI member from Central Sulawesi, Muhidin Mohamad Said of the Golkar Party faction, conveyed that BPKP’s assistance and outreach to regional governments have positively impacted the quality of regional financial governance. He mentioned that various regions in his constituency successfully obtained unqualified opinions thanks to the guidance and support provided by BPKP.
In response, BPKP Head Muhammad Yusuf Ateh expressed appreciation for the support and input from Commission XI. ‘I accept the input and criticism from the members of Commission XI of the DPR RI. BPKP will continue to strengthen its advisory role for ministries, agencies, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD) by prioritising a preventive approach,’ Ateh stated.
