Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) emphasises the urgency of strengthening the strategic role of government internal supervisory apparatus (APIP) in overseeing the success of regional development.

“APIP leaders at the ministerial, institutional, and regional levels hold significant responsibility in adding value to their organisations,” said Deputy for Regional Financial Management Supervision (PPKD) of BPKP, Setya Nugraha, during the Expert Talks session of the Certified Government Chief Audit Executive (CGCAE) Training and Certification, as quoted from its official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, an APIP leader must be capable of managing internal supervision activities effectively and aligning supervision with the expectations of stakeholders.

This is crucial to ensure that every regional development policy runs within the proper framework and achieves the set targets.

In addition, Setya hopes that regional APIP has an independent position and has a direct reporting channel to the regional head.

Through competent expertise, APIP is demanded to provide beneficial insights for the strategic decision-making process.

“With sharp recommendations, APIP plays a role in maintaining the reputation and credibility of regional governments, while also improving the quality of public services for the community,” he stated.

Furthermore, his side encourages the implementation of risk-based internal supervision (PIBR) as the main framework of thinking for APIP leaders.

Setya explained that APIP leaders need to focus on development targets that have the highest risks.

Subsequently, the integration of the supervision results will be formulated into a macro opinion for the regional head as a basis for consideration in establishing regional policies.

“The PPKD Deputy of BPKP is committed to continuing to synergise public service governance to make it more effective, accountable, transparent, and capable of addressing current national development issues,” he revealed.
