BPKH manages Rp183 trillion in hajj funds through secure and transparent Sharia-compliant investment instruments
The management of hajj funds is a crucial aspect of Indonesia’s hajj operations. The contributions from millions of prospective pilgrims must be managed professionally while upholding transparency, Sharia principles, and accountability to maintain public trust. Head of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), Fadlul Imansyah, stated that BPKH manages hajj funds responsibly, professionally, and in accordance with Sharia principles. Hajj contributions are not merely stored but are developed through secure and transparent Sharia-compliant investment instruments. “Hajj funds are, God willing, managed responsibly and professionally in line with Sharia principles by BPKH. The contributions from each prospective pilgrim are not only stored but also developed through Sharia-compliant investment instruments that are trustworthy and transparent,” he said at the “Panggilan dari Arafah” event at Mahasina Darul Qur’an wal Hadits Islamic Boarding School in Bekasi City on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. He added that the proceeds from hajj fund management are used to provide benefits, including helping keep hajj costs affordable. Beyond affordability, BPKH also has a mandate to improve the quality of services for Indonesian hajj pilgrims, as stipulated in Law No. 34 of 2014 on Hajj Financial Management. “Thus, in addition to ensuring affordable costs, we also strive to maintain and continuously improve the quality of hajj services each year,” Fadlul said. Indonesian hajj pilgrims can now monitor departure estimates via the BPKH app. The public can also track the growth of benefits from Sharia-compliantly managed hajj contributions. However, in the digital age, there is much conflicting information about hajj funds, especially on social media. Therefore, Fadlul urged the public to obtain information from credible and comprehensive sources.
