BPKH Cuts Rp 100 Billion, Assures Hajj Funds Remain Secure
The Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) has slashed its operational budget for 2026 by Rp 100.31 billion, or 18.59 per cent, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and ensure the sustainability of hajj funds. Despite the budget cut, BPKH has assured that the quality of services for pilgrims and the management of hajj fund investments will remain optimal.
The decision was agreed upon during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) to discuss BPKH’s Revised Annual Work Plan and Budget (RKAT-P) for 2026. Through this adjustment, BPKH’s operational budget ceiling was reduced from the original Rp 539.63 billion to Rp 439.32 billion.
Head of BPKH Fadlul Imansyah stated that the efficiency measures were implemented in a measured way without reducing the institution’s strategic functions in managing hajj funds. “Although the operational budget has been reduced by more than Rp 100 billion, BPKH is optimistic that the quality of services to pilgrims, institutional governance, and the performance of hajj financial investment development throughout 2026 will remain optimally maintained, trustworthy, and professional,” Fadlul said in a written statement on Wednesday (1/7/2026).
According to him, the efficiency drive serves as momentum to build a more effective, adaptive, and results-oriented work culture. Fadlul explained that the policy is also in line with the government’s directive to implement spending efficiency across various ministries and institutions.
As an institution that manages public funds, he said, BPKH is obliged to ensure that every rupiah of operational costs is used appropriately and provides added value to the organisation. He stressed that the main objective of the efficiency measures is not merely to cut expenses, but to maintain the sustainability of the hajj funds, which are a trust from millions of prospective Indonesian pilgrims.
“The ultimate goal of all the efficiency measures we are taking is to maintain the sustainability of the hajj funds. The hajj funds are a trust belonging to the pilgrims that must be managed carefully, efficiently, productively, and responsibly so that their value is preserved, both for current pilgrims and for future generations of pilgrims,” he said.
BPKH member for Planning and Direct Investment, M Arief Mufraini, stated that the budget adjustment was made after a thorough evaluation of all work programmes, ensuring that it would not disrupt the implementation of strategic programmes or investment development.
