BPKH and Baznas Distribute Welfare Assistance to 11 Pesantren in East Java
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Hajj Finance Management Agency (BPKH) together with the National Zakat Amil Agency (Baznas) RI has distributed welfare assistance in the form of facilities and infrastructure, such as classrooms, ablution areas, toilets, and livestock breeding, to 11 pondok pesantren in East Java (Jatim).
In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, the Head of the BPKH Executive Body, Fadlul Imansyah, stated that pesantren play a very vital role, from centres of religious education and character formation to contributions to the local economy through economic and entrepreneurial activities.
Fadlul mentioned that East Java was chosen because it is the province with the second-largest number of pondok pesantren in Indonesia, with a total of 7,347 pondok pesantren based on data from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) as of September 2025.
Therefore, BPKH is committed to being present through the welfare programme to channel the benefits of the Permanent Community Fund (DAU) to pesantren that need assistance.
“This aligns with the function of DAU for the development of worship facilities, education, and community social welfare,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Baznas RI, Sodik Mudjahid, expressed appreciation and thanks to BPKH for its trust in Baznas RI in distributing the welfare programme.
“Alhamdulillah, Baznas has once again been trusted as a partner of BPKH in distributing the welfare programme. The assistance of facilities and infrastructure to these 11 pesantren is not merely symbolic, but a form of the state’s presence through Baznas and BPKH to help the community,” Sodik stated.
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VIII, Endro Hermono, appreciated the steps taken by BPKH and Baznas in cooperating on welfare for pesantren.
According to him, this synergy is very important to ensure that welfare funds truly reach the direct needs of the community.

Yayasan Insan Madani - Construction of Toilet and Ablution Area
Ponpes Darul Huda - Construction of Toilet and Ablution Area
Ponpes Darul Hikmah Umar - Construction of Laundry Area
Ponpes Fathul Huda - Construction of Toilet and Laundry Area
Ponpes Al Huda Hanifa - Programme for toilet and fence facilities and infrastructure
Ponpes Subontoro - Construction of Hall
Yayasan Bumi Tunas Harapan - Construction of New Classroom
Madrasah Diniyah Al Hikmah - Sheep Livestock Hall (Breeding)
