REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) has handed over Saudi Riyal (SAR) banknotes amounting to 152.4 million for the living cost needs of prospective Indonesian Hajj pilgrims for the year 1447 Hijriyah/2026 CE.

“This represents BPKH’s commitment to ensuring the financial readiness of pilgrims in a transparent, accountable manner, and in accordance with Sharia principles,” stated Amri Yusuf, Member of the BPKH Executive Board, when confirmed on Friday (10/4/2026).

BPKH has provided a total of SAR 152,490,000 in banknotes, equivalent to around Rp 695 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp 4,561 per SAR). These funds are channelled through Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) to meet the needs of 203,320 prospective regular Hajj pilgrims.

Each individual will receive SAR 750, or approximately Rp 3.4 million, consisting of one SAR 500 note, two SAR 100 notes, and one SAR 50 note.

This pocket money is prepared as operational provisions for pilgrims while in the Holy Land, for additional daily consumption needs, reserve funds for unforeseen expenses, or to fulfil payment obligations for dam (Hajj penalties).

Amri Yusuf emphasised that the entire foreign currency procurement process refers to Law No. 34 of 2014 on Hajj Financial Management. One key difference this year is the consistent application of the Sharf contract, a spot cash currency exchange mechanism.
