BPKH Affirms Commitment to Supporting Law Enforcement
Head of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) Fadlul Imansyah complied with a summons from the Public Prosecutor to appear as a witness in the trial of an alleged corruption case concerning the management of additional hajj quotas for 2023-2024 at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday (27/8). His presence was affirmed as a form of the institution’s commitment to respecting and fully supporting the law enforcement process.
Fadlul assured that BPKH is being cooperative by fully entrusting the handling of the case to the authorised law enforcement authorities, and is ready to provide data and documents in accordance with statutory provisions.
“We are here to comply with the summons as a witness and to provide testimony based on the facts we know. BPKH fully supports the law enforcement process and will continue to be cooperative with law enforcement authorities,” said Fadlul.
In addition to Fadlul, the Public Prosecutor also examined two other witnesses in the trial of the defendant Ishfah Abidal Azis, also known as Gus Alex, a former special staff member of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. The two witnesses were BPKH Deputy of Finance Irwanto and M. Lutfi Makki, who served as Technical Staff Assistant for Hajj 2 at the Hajj Affairs Office of the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah for the 2021-2024 period.
BPKH Deputy of Finance Irwanto stated that his testimony in court was given to support efforts to objectively uncover the case based on facts and evidence.
“We provide the necessary information and documents as long as they are within our authority. In principle, we support a legal process that is transparent, objective, and in accordance with laws and regulations,” said Irwanto.
As an institution that manages the funds of the Muslim community, BPKH recognises that the management of hajj finances is a trust that must be carried out by upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, prudence, professionalism, and good governance.
“We understand that the trust of pilgrims is an enormous responsibility. Therefore, BPKH is committed to continuing to maintain integrity and ensuring that all duties and functions are carried out accountably,” added Fadlul.
