BPK to Ethically Process Civil Servants Involved in Muara Enim Bribery, Ready to Share Data with KPK

The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) has spoken out after five civil servants were caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) related to a bribery case in the Muara Enim Regency administration. BPK supports the ongoing legal process.

“BPK respects the legal process undertaken by the KPK as part of the synergy and joint efforts in eradicating corruption in Indonesia,” said the Bureau of Public Relations and International Cooperation in a statement on Thursday (11/6/2026).

BPK also indicated it will be cooperative in the case. The agency is prepared to provide the information needed by the KPK. “BPK is committed to being cooperative and providing data and information support as required in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations,” it stated.

Furthermore, BPK will process the ethics of civil servants proven to be involved and to have committed violations. BPK is committed to evaluating and strengthening integrity management on an ongoing basis. “In line with this, we will process all employees suspected of being involved in this incident in accordance with applicable regulations, through the Code of Ethics Honour Council (MKKE),” the agency clarified.

Previously, the KPK named four people as suspects related to the sting operation involving BPK employees. One of the suspects is Muara Enim Regent Edison. “Based on sufficient and valid preliminary evidence, the KPK has subsequently named four people as suspects,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Red and White building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (11/6).

“Yes (one of them is Regent Edison). Two individuals from the suspected giver side and two more individuals from the suspected recipient side,” Budi continued.

Budi mentioned that Edison allegedly gave a sum of money to BPK officials. The money was allegedly provided by Edison in connection with BPK audit findings regarding the procurement of smart boards at the Muara Enim Education and Culture Office.

Budi stated that the bribes from Edison were suspected to have originated from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi as the supplier of the smart boards. The company allegedly provided money to the Muara Enim Regency government to ‘maintain good relations’.
