BPK Reveals 20-Year Audit Results: Rp163 Trillion in State Funds Saved
The Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) has revealed that the majority of audit recommendations issued between 2005 and 2025 have been implemented, with a completion rate of 81.4%.
BPK Chairperson Isma Yatun stated that follow-up actions on audit recommendations over the last two decades have resulted in the deposit of funds and the handover of assets to the state, regional governments, and companies, totalling Rp16ps61 trillion. This includes Rp3.68 trillion originating from audit results for the 2025 period, Isma noted during the 9th Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday (6/10/2026).
This data is contained within the Summary of Semester Audit Results (IHPS) I of 2026, presented by the BPK to the House of Representatives. In addition to recommendation follow-ups, the BPK also monitored the settlement of state and regional losses identified between 2005 and the first semester of 2026, which amounted to Rp6.23 trillion. Of this total loss, Rp2.27 trillion has been repaid, while Rp1.9 trillion is currently being paid in instalments. Losses that have been written off reached Rp211.46 billion.
“Consequently, there remains an outstanding loss of Rp1.85 trillion, or 29.7% of the total identified loss cases,” said Isma. She added that the success of an audit is measured not only by the number of recommendations issued but also by the tangible impact through the recovery of state losses and improvements in governance.
In the IHPS for the first semester of 2026, the BPK summarised 762 Audit Result Reports (LHP), consisting of 706 financial audit reports, 20 performance audit reports, and 36 special purpose audit reports. Regarding the quality of financial statements, the BPK once again granted an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) for the 2025 Central Government Financial Statement (LKPP). Furthermore, 96 Ministry/Agency Financial Statements (LKKL) and one State General Treasurer Financial Statement (LKBUN) also received Unqualified Opinions, while one LKKL received a Qualified Opinion (WDP).
At the regional government level, out of 546 Regional Government Financial Statements (LKPD) audited, 509 regional governments received an Unqualified Opinion, 35 received a Qualified Opinion, and two received a Disclaimer of Opinion (TMP). The BPK also noted that contributions to saving state finances reached Rp49.28 trillion in the first semester of 2026. This value stems from findings of state losses, potential losses, revenue shortfalls, and various issues regarding lack of economy, inefficiency, and ineffectiveness in financial management. Of this total, Rp1.80 trillion has been successfully returned to the state treasury, regional governments, companies, or other bodies while the audit process was still ongoing.
