BPK Member Haerul Saleh's Office 80 Percent Destroyed by Fire
Police have stated that the office of Haerul Saleh, a member of Division IV of Indonesia’s Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) RI, located on the fourth floor of his residence, was 80 percent destroyed by fire.
“(The condition) is burnt, temporarily around 80 percent, the upper part, the top of his office, approximately 80 percent,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Putu Yuni, to reporters on Friday (8/5).
Meanwhile, Putu noted that the lower floors remain intact, as the fire was confined to the victim’s office.
“(What was burnt) one floor, the office on the fourth floor only, so just the fourth floor,” he said.
Putu explained that the processing of the crime scene (TKP) is currently underway by South Jakarta Metro Police alongside the Identification Team and the Puslabfor Team from National Police Headquarters.
“We are conducting TKP processing, approximately the initial cause of the fire until the completion of the TKP processing,” he stated.
Previously, a fire struck a house at Jalan TB Simatupang No 3, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, on Friday (8/5) morning. The incident resulted in the death of BPK RI member IV, Haerul Saleh.
Head of South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, Asril Rizal, said the fire is suspected to have originated from remnants of thinner from recent house renovations.
“The fire is suspected to have come from remnants of thinner from house renovations,” Asril said in his statement.
Asril mentioned that the fire was reported to the fire department around 07:53 WIB. Twelve fire trucks and 48 personnel were deployed to the location to extinguish the blaze.
Asril explained that the extinguishing operation began around 08:07 WIB and was declared complete at 08:46 WIB.
