BPK Member Haerul Saleh Passes Away, Agriculture Minister: He Was a Calm and Simple Figure

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Agriculture Minister (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman remembers BPK RI Member IV Haerul Saleh as a good person, calm, simple, and possessing a strong commitment to upholding integrity and good government governance.

Amran was one of the first mourners and helped escort the body to the ambulance of BPK Member IV of the Republic of Indonesia’s Financial Audit Board (BPK), Haerul Saleh, from Pasar Minggu District Hospital, Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026).

Amran rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news of the deceased’s passing. This sorrowful news enveloped the extended family of the Ministry of Agriculture and various parties after Haerul Saleh passed away due to a fire incident at his residence.

He listened to a brief chronology of the fire from the housemaid; the incident happened so quickly while the victim was supervising several people processing the renovation. Suddenly, the fire grew large, and black smoke could not be avoided.

Amran expressed deep condolences over the passing of the deceased, whom he knew as a simple, hardworking figure with high dedication to the nation and state.

“We, the extended family of the Ministry of Agriculture, extend our deepest condolences over the passing of Mr Haerul Saleh. He was a good person, calm, simple, and had a strong commitment to maintaining integrity and good government governance,” said Minister Amran.

According to Minister Amran, the deceased was a figure who always prioritised professionalism and service in every task undertaken.

“He was someone who greatly valued hard work and always prioritised the interests of the nation and state. We have lost one of the nation’s best sons who has devoted much to Indonesia,” he said.

Minister Amran also prayed for the deceased to receive the best place by Allah SWT’s side and for the family left behind to be granted strength in facing this trial.

“May the deceased have a good end, be forgiven for all sins and oversights, have his grave widened, and may the entire family left behind be given strength, patience, and acceptance,” he said.

Haerul Saleh’s passing is a great loss for the Indonesian nation. He was widely known as an official with integrity, commitment, and high dedication in strengthening governance and accountability.
