BPK: Attorney General's Office Records Significant State Financial Savings
The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia has recorded highly significant recoveries and savings of state finances.
The Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) revealed that the Attorney General’s Office managed to save Rp19.8 trillion from state-seized assets and recovered Rp7.35 trillion through the handling of civil cases. This was stated by BPK Member I, Nyoman Adhi Suryadnyorkan, to Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin during the submission of the Audit Result Report (LHP) for the 2025 Attorney General’s Office Financial Statements in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, this achievement demonstrates that the recovery of assets resulting from criminal acts has been carried out thoroughly, ranging from legally binding court decisions to deposits into the state treasury, ensuring that law enforcement provides tangible fiscal benefits.
The law enforcement performance of the Attorney General’s Office was also evidenced by the arrest of 138 fugitives (DPO) and the resolution of 2,080 cases through a restorative justice approach. This humanist approach is considered not only to restore order and satisfy public justice but also to help reduce the burden on correctional institutions.
In the audit of the 2025 Attorney General’s Office Financial Statements, the BPK once again granted an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) to the Attorney General’s Office, indicating that the financial statements have been presented fairly in all material respects in accordance with the Government Accounting Standards (SAP).
In line with this opinion, the BPK also provided several strategic recommendations to improve and enhance sustainable governance. These include improving the administration of replacement money receivables, organising and evaluating the recording of seized goods within the Asset Recovery Secured-Data System (ARSSYS) to ensure better order and integration, and organising the inventory of grant assets from local governments so that all assets controlled and utilised can be recorded and reported completely in accordance with applicable regulations.
The BPK expressed hope that the leadership and all ranks of the Attorney General’s Office would promptly follow up on the BPK’s recommendations effectively and in a timely manner.
Nyoman emphasised that the Unqualified Opinion is not the final goal, but rather part of a process to continuously strengthen good governance. “The BPK hopes that all BPK recommendations are followed up consistently, so they can strengthen internal control systems, increase effectiveness, and provide real benefits to the community,” he added.
