BPK Announces Audit Results on Food Security, Here Are Its Recommendations
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) has presented the results of its thematic audit related to the strategic pillars of national development, namely food security and human development. This forms part of the Semester II Audit Summary (IHPS) for 2025.
“The audit results reveal significant issues along with cross-cutting recommendations across Ministries/Institutions/State-Owned Enterprises to synergise fragmented policies, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of government programmes or activities,” explained BPK Chair Isma Yatun, during the handover of the IHPS II for 2025 to the leadership of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta today (21/4).
The national thematic audit on food security shows several positive achievements from the programme. Among them, rice production in 2025 reached 34.71 million tonnes, an increase of 13.36% compared to 2024, without any imports. Additionally, the 2025 unhulled rice absorption policy successfully procured 3 million tonnes of domestic rice for government rice reserves.
In the food security audit, BPK has identified several issues and recommends that the Coordinating Minister for Food coordinate with all related Ministries/Institutions to gather input on the concept of developing more structured data and information systems. BPK also recommends that the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), the Minister of Agriculture, and the Minister of Public Works refine their respective information systems to realise a data ecosystem for food that enables mutual sharing.
Furthermore, BPK recommends that the Coordinating Minister for Food expedite the issuance of the National Food Plan (RPN) document for 2025–2029 and the National Action Plan for Food and Nutrition (RAN-PG) for 2025–2029. BPK also recommends that the Minister of Agriculture establish agricultural extensification and intensification planning based on actual needs and conditions, and coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works regarding irrigation.
For the national thematic audit on human development, this IHPS records several strategic achievements that have been attained. Among others, local governments have accelerated efforts to eliminate tuberculosis by adopting the central government’s targets for detection, treatment, and prevention of TB as local targets for TB elimination activities.
“In the thematic audit on human development, regarding policy design, BPK recommends that the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture coordinate with the leadership of Ministries/Institutions to establish Norms, Standards, Procedures, and Criteria (NSPK) that regulate inter-agency coordination, local governments, and related stakeholders in a more sustainable manner for implementing human development in health and education,” stated Isma Yatun.
The next recommendation concerns the health sector. BPK recommends that the Minister of Health coordinate with BPJS Kesehatan, involving the Ministry of Home Affairs, to clarify regulations and mechanisms for providing special capitation to Primary Healthcare Facilities (FKTP) in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost areas (3T), as well as remote, border, and archipelago areas (DTPK).
