BPK and Timor-Leste SAI cooperate on public sector audit
The Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) and the Câmara de Contas do Tribunal de Recurso (CdC), or the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of Timor-Leste, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in public sector auditing.
“This momentum reflects a continued commitment as well as the growing partnership between the two parties,” said BPK Chair Isma Yatun before Timor-Leste SAI President Afonso Carmona at the Faculty of Military Logistics Vocational Studies (FVLM) campus of the Indonesian Defence University in Belu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
In a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, Isma said the signing of the MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening the cooperative relationship that has been built over the past several years.
The MoU, she continued, also marks the beginning of a new chapter of synergy and cooperation between the two parties in achieving shared goals, particularly in improving audit quality, strengthening accountability, and promoting better public sector governance.
Through the MoU, Isma said the two institutions are establishing a comprehensive cooperation framework to encourage the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices, as well as to support capacity building and professional development while upholding international standards and principles of good governance.
The visit of the Timor-Leste SAI President to the BPK Head Office in Jakarta in September 2025 was one of the key moments in strengthening the partnership between the two institutions.
Since the relationship was established in 2016, she said cooperation between BPK and Timor-Leste SAI has continued to develop through various activities, such as bilateral meetings and Timor-Leste SAI’s participation in international training programmes organised by BPK in 2024 and 2025. This series of collaborations has served as an important foundation for the signing of the MoU.
Going forward, she said, both institutions are committed to continuing to strengthen collaboration in order to enhance public sector audit capacity in both institutions and the region, particularly within the framework of the association of supreme audit institutions in Southeast Asia (ASEANSAI).
