BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Strengthens Heirs' Economic Independence through PEKA Programme
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is strengthening the impact of its social security programme through the innovative PEKA (Economic Empowerment and Independence) Programme in West Nusa Tenggara Province. In collaboration with Bank NTB Syariah, the programme provides training and mentoring to 52 heirs of participants to help them build economic independence through productive enterprises.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s Managing Director, Saiful Hidayat, explained that the PEKA Programme aims to ensure social security benefits are not used solely for short-term consumptive needs. Guided by the 3P principle (Training, Productivity, and Profit), beneficiaries are encouraged to create new, sustainable sources of income.
“This collaboration is a tangible form of our shared commitment to providing protection that does not stop at benefit payments, but also helps the families of participants to recover and become economically independent,” Saiful said in a statement in Mataram on Thursday.
Saiful added that this initiative embodies the spirit of value beyond protection. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is not only present when risks occur but also supports participants’ families to remain empowered. According to data, throughout 2025, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan paid out benefits totalling Rp430.93 billion for 50,006 claims in NTB. As of June 2026, total benefits disbursed reached Rp259.05 billion from 29,554 claims.
Bank NTB Syariah’s Managing Director, Nazaruddin, welcomed the synergy. His party is committed to strengthening financial literacy and inclusion for the heirs.
“Access to capital is already available through various financing products. We have also provided assistance through the Tunas Programme worth Rp10 million to support the productivity of the assisted MSMEs,” Nazaruddin said.
The activity also received support from Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Muazzim Akbar, who attended the handover of assistance. The PEKA programme is part of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s 3C strategy (Coverage, Care, Credibility) to expand protection coverage while delivering tangible socio-economic impacts for the people of Indonesia.
