BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has expressed its deepest condolences over the passing of Beno Prasetio, a Public Facilities and Infrastructure Officer (PPSU). Beno died due to a workplace accident while carrying out his duties in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4).

The Director General of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Saiful Hidayat, stated that protection for workers must be truly present, especially when disasters occur. He explained that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan learned of the incident through media reports on 16 April and immediately followed up to ensure the deceased’s membership status and protection rights.

The presence of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan serves as a form of empathy for the bereaved family while ensuring that all participant rights are received by the heirs.

“We extend our deepest condolences over the passing of the late Beno Prasetio. In times of grief like this, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan must be present quickly, with full care, and ensure that all participant rights are received by their family,” said Saiful in his statement on Saturday (18/4/2026).

Following the media reports, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan coordinated with relevant agencies on 16-17 April 2026 to ensure the guarantee process, verification, and claim settlement proceeded smoothly.

“Without waiting for an application from the family, we moved proactively. The entire administrative process was completed in one day so that the Work Accident Insurance benefits could be immediately received by the deceased’s family,” said Saiful.

As a form of protection against work risks experienced by participants, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan handed over Work Accident Insurance (JKK) benefits amounting to Rp 281 million to the deceased’s heirs, Sri Suryani, his wife.

Saiful hopes that the compensation can help alleviate the family’s burden and serve as support for the livelihood of the bereaved family.

According to Saiful, this quick and proactive step is part of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s commitment to providing proactive, responsive, easy, and accurate services to participants.

“For us, protection is not just about the amount of benefits, but also the speed and certainty of services. Therefore, we continue to strengthen proactive services and one-day service so that participants’ rights can be fulfilled immediately,” he said.

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan also provided special assistance to the heirs. This is because Sri Suryani has hearing limitations, so the entire service process was conducted inclusively and with full care.

Saiful also appreciated the South Jakarta Administrative City Government for providing social security protection to daily casual employees, including PPSU officers.

“This incident reminds us that work risks can occur at any time. Therefore, we invite all workers, both formal and informal, to ensure they are protected by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan so that when risks occur, workers and their families do not face this situation alone,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Pasar Minggu Sub-District Head, Guguk Tri Rahayu, appreciated the proactive and rapid response of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in ensuring the deceased’s family rights are promptly received.

“Thank you to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. I also did not expect the process to run so quickly without complications. This shows the importance of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan protection for workers. When a workplace accident occurs, the benefits can be felt immediately. I hope this is continuously socialised to the public, especially Jakarta residents, to join as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants,” he stated.

On the other hand, representing the heirs’ family, Margiyono expressed thanks for the quick proactive service provided by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

“We from the family express our utmost gratitude to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. We did not expect the claim process to proceed this quickly; as of today, the compensation has also been received by Mrs Suryani as the deceased’s heir. May the benefits we receive be utilised by the family to the best possible extent,” he concluded.
