Owning a decent and affordable home remains a hope for many Indonesian workers. Recognising this need, the state, through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, continues to expand access to Additional Service Benefits (MLT) for housing for its participants. This time, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is partnering with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) to provide a sharia-based housing financing alternative.

The cooperation was marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director Saiful Hidayat and BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo at Grha BPJAMSOSTEK, Jakarta, on Friday (10/7/2026).

In his statement, Saiful said that BSI’s presence as a distributing bank would further expand access while adding alternative housing financing with a sharia scheme that can be utilised by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants.

“We welcome the cooperation with Bank Syariah Indonesia, which will present a sharia-based financing alternative for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants. This cooperation is part of our strategic focus, particularly on the Care aspect, namely how we continue to develop value beyond protection by providing added value that can support the improvement of workers’ and their families’ welfare,” Saiful explained.

Through this cooperation, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants can access various MLT housing facilities through BSI, ranging from Home Ownership Loans (KPR), Home Renovation Loans (PRP), to Home Down Payment Loans (PUMP). In addition, a Construction Loan (KK) facility is also available, aimed at supporting housing development for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants.

Based on BPJS Ketenagakerjaan data, from 2017 to May 2026, the realisation of MLT housing has reached 7,111 units with a total benefit value of IDR 4.86 trillion.

“We see that the need for decent and affordable housing among workers is still very large, so access needs to be continuously expanded, one of which is through the addition of cooperation with distributing banks,” said Saiful.

Saiful added that this collaboration is also a form of support from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and BSI for the 3 Million Homes Programme launched by the government. Through the expansion of financing access, more workers are expected to have the opportunity to obtain decent housing for themselves and their families.

“For us, employment social security protection is not only present when workers experience risks, but also provides added value that can support the improvement of workers’ and their families’ welfare. One of these is through this MLT housing,” he stressed.

Saiful hopes that the collaboration with BSI can continue to be developed and not stop at the distribution of MLT housing. In the future, the synergy between the two parties is expected to reach services for heirs or participants receiving BPJS Ketenagakerjaan programme benefits. One of these is through the Economic Empowerment and Independence (PEKA) programme for Beneficiaries, which BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is currently promoting.

“We will continue to encourage this collaboration to develop further, not only for Additional Service Benefits for housing, but also to empower beneficiaries or heirs of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants,” concluded Saiful.

Similarly, BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo affirmed that this collaboration is part of BSI’s real commitment to supporting the government’s strategic programme to address the national housing backlog while spurring economic growth.

“The housing sector has a very large multiplier effect on various downstream industries in Indonesia. Through this strategic partnership with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, BSI is present to provide real solutions for workers to own decent housing with fair sharia principles,” said Anggoro.
