BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Encourages Informal Workers to Take Advantage of JKK Contribution Discounts
Jakarta (ANTARA) - BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is encouraging informal workers or Non-Wage Recipients (BPU) to take advantage of a 50% reduction in contributions for the Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Insurance (JKM) programmes, which will apply until December 2026.
Director of Membership at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Agung Nugroho, stated that the programme is part of the government’s support for strengthening human resource development while protecting the purchasing power and welfare of workers in the informal sector.
“This is proof that the state cares deeply about protecting all Indonesian workers, especially those in the informal sector. Let us seize this opportunity so that no worker is left behind and works without protection,” said Agung in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
He explained that the contribution reduction applies to all BPU workers who register independently, whether new participants or those already actively registered.
Under the programme, workers only need to pay Rp8,400 per month from April to December 2026. To benefit from the reduction over nine months, workers need to pay a total of Rp75,600.
Agung assured that the contribution discount policy does not reduce the quality of services or benefits received by participants.
The benefits provided remain the same, including a maximum work accident compensation of Rp70 million, treatment for work accidents without cost limits according to medical needs, a maximum death benefit of Rp42 million, and education scholarships for two children with a maximum value of Rp174 million.
He added that registration and contribution payments can be made through various channels, such as the JMO (Jamsostek Mobile) application, the official BPJS Ketenagakerjaan website, and payment partners like Indomaret, Alfamart, Pos offices, banking agents, e-commerce, digital wallets, and other cooperating channels.
“We remain committed to providing employment social security protection for all Indonesian workers. This protection is essential so that workers can work safely, productively, and prosperously,” said Agung.
