BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and KPK Strengthen Governance to Safeguard Workers' Funds and Boost Public Trust
Jakarta (ANTARA) - BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, together with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Ministry of Manpower, has signed a joint action plan as a follow-up to a corruption risk mapping study on the management of employment social security. The signing, which took place at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, is part of a collective effort to strengthen governance, enhance transparency, and ensure the management of employment social security programmes is increasingly accountable and provides optimal benefits for Indonesian workers.
KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin emphasised that strengthening governance is key to maintaining public trust in the administration of employment social security. He stated that the success of eradicating corruption is not only measured by enforcement actions but also by the ability of all stakeholders to build a system that can close loopholes for irregularities from the outset.
He added that strengthening governance is also a crucial factor in supporting the national target of expanding employment social security coverage. A clean, transparent, and accountable system is deemed necessary to ensure that benefits are received precisely by the workers and their families who are entitled to them.
The study conducted by the KPK throughout 2025 is part of a prevention effort to identify areas within the administration of the employment social security programme that can still be reinforced. The KPK stressed the importance of improving the quality and integrity of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s database as a foundation for accurate verification processes. Strengthening risk management and internal supervisory functions should also be a priority so that potential fraud can be detected and addressed more quickly.
Responding to the study’s findings, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director Saiful Hidayat expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the KPK. He stated that the management of employment social security must prioritise good governance and is committed to improving quality, particularly in the management of membership and benefit services. As a preventive measure against potential irregularities in governance, the agency has taken various steps, including ensuring the validity of participant data through inter-agency coordination and strengthening risk management functions at branch offices.
Saiful noted that findings regarding participant classification, membership mechanisms for the construction services sector, and potential risks in the Jaminan Kematian (Death Benefit) and Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja (Work Accident Benefit) programmes serve as important material to accelerate comprehensive system improvements. He added that the follow-up to the KPK’s recommendations will be integrated into BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s action plan so that it does not stop at the policy level but is truly implemented operationally across all service lines. These steps are part of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s commitment to continuously strengthening the aspects of Coverage, Care, and Credibility through good, transparent, and accountable governance. Saiful concluded that the action plan marks a momentum for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and the KPK to realise a more integrated and accountable administration of employment social security for all Indonesian workers.
