BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and KPK Strengthen Governance to Boost Public Trust

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has committed to strengthening governance and ensuring the management of employment social security programmes becomes increasingly accountable and provides optimal benefits for Indonesian workers. This was demonstrated through the signing of an Action Plan with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Ministry of Manpower, following up on a Corruption Risk Mapping Study of Employment Social Security Management. The signing took place at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin emphasised that strengthening governance is key to maintaining public trust in the administration of employment social security. According to him, the success of eradicating corruption is not only measured by enforcement actions but also by the ability of all stakeholders to build a system capable of closing off opportunities for irregularities from the outset. He added that strengthening governance is also an important factor in supporting the national target of expanding employment social security coverage. A clean, transparent, and accountable system is deemed essential to ensure that programme benefits are received precisely by workers and their families. The study conducted by the KPK throughout 2025 was part of prevention efforts to identify areas that could still be strengthened in the implementation of employment social security programmes. The KPK stressed the importance of improving the quality and integrity of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s database as the foundation for an accurate verification process. Strengthening risk management functions and internal supervision must also be a priority so that potential fraud can be detected and handled more quickly. Responding to the study’s findings, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director Saiful Hidayat expressed gratitude and appreciation to the KPK for the Corruption Risk Potential Study. He explained that as a preventive measure against potential irregularities in governance, the agency has taken various steps, including ensuring the validity of participant data through inter-agency coordination and strengthening risk management functions at branch offices. Saiful added that notes regarding participant classification, membership mechanisms for the construction services sector, and potential risks in the Death Benefit and Work Accident Benefit programmes serve as important material to accelerate comprehensive system improvements. The follow-up to the KPK’s recommendations will be integrated into BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s action plan so that it does not stop at the policy level but is truly implemented operationally across all service lines. These steps are part of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s commitment to continuously strengthen the aspects of Coverage, Care, and Credibility through good, transparent, and accountable governance.
