BPJS Kesehatan Ternate provides clean water access for Dehegila residents
The Ternate branch of the Social Security Administering Body for Health (BPJS Kesehatan) in North Maluku Province has provided clean water access for residents of Dehegila, Pulau Morotai Regency, through its Organization Social Responsibility (OSR) programme.
"BPJS Kesehatan’s commitment to improving the quality of life for the community is not only realised through the implementation of the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme, but also through various social activities that provide direct benefits to the community," said Head of Human Resources and General Affairs, Almira Pramitha Radjaloa, representing BPJS Kesehatan Ternate Branch on Friday.
Almira stated that the provision of clean water through the construction of a borehole well is a tangible form of BPJS Kesehatan’s concern for the community’s basic needs. "The presence of this facility is expected to address the needs of residents who have long faced limited access to clean water, especially during the dry season," she said.
Clean water is a crucial factor in supporting clean and healthy living behaviours and preventing various diseases related to environmental sanitation. Therefore, Almira noted, providing clean water infrastructure is a long-term investment that benefits not only the current health of the community but also future generations.
The OSR programme is part of BPJS Kesehatan’s efforts to make a positive contribution to society through activities that support the improvement of health standards. Public health is not solely determined by healthcare services received when ill, but is also influenced by various supporting factors, one of which is access to clean water.
According to her, the construction of the borehole well in Dehegila Village, South Morotai District, represents BPJS Kesehatan’s concern for community needs as well as support for the government’s efforts to improve environmental health quality and public welfare.
The Regional Government of Pulau Morotai Regency, represented by Assistant I of the Regional Secretariat Mauluddin Wahab, expressed appreciation for BPJS Kesehatan’s concern through the borehole well assistance. He explained that clean water facilities are urgently needed by the community, particularly residents of Dehegila Village and surrounding areas who often experience water supply shortages during the dry season. Therefore, the assistance provided by BPJS Kesehatan is considered highly targeted and provides significant benefits to the community.
"We express our gratitude to BPJS Kesehatan for the assistance provided. This borehole well will greatly help the community meet their daily clean water needs. We also hope that this facility will be utilised wisely and maintained together so that its benefits can be felt in the long term," Mauluddin stated.
The Dehegila Village government and the local community also warmly welcomed the construction of the borehole well. The presence of this facility is expected to reduce residents’ difficulties in obtaining clean water while supporting the creation of a healthier and more comfortable environment.
Through the OSR programme, BPJS Kesehatan continues to strengthen its role as an institution that not only focuses on administering health insurance but also contributes to social and community development.
