In commemoration of its 58th anniversary, BPJS Kesehatan held a Health Fun Run at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex on Sunday (28/6). The event, attended by various running communities, underscored BPJS Kesehatan’s commitment to supporting promotive and preventive efforts as part of strengthening the National Health Insurance (JKN) Programme by encouraging the public to cultivate a healthy lifestyle.

BPJS Kesehatan President Director Prihati Pujowaskito stated that the success of the JKN Programme is not solely measured by its ability to provide health service guarantees when people fall ill. According to him, true success is achieved when the public becomes increasingly aware of maintaining their health so that disease risks can be prevented early.

“The JKN Programme was built on the spirit of mutual cooperation. Therefore, we not only strive to provide health protection when the community needs services, but also continue to strengthen various promotive and preventive efforts so that people remain healthy and productive,” Pujo said.

Pujo explained that as of 1 June 2026, there are more than 285 million JKN participants, representing over 98 per cent of Indonesia’s population. This achievement is supported by 23,682 First-Level Health Facilities (FKTP) and 3,221 hospitals and main clinics spread across Indonesia that collaborate with BPJS Kesehatan, making health service access increasingly easier for the public.

“BPJS Kesehatan continuously strengthens promotive and preventive measures to curb the rise of non-communicable diseases, particularly among the productive age group. In 2025, more than 79 million JKN participants underwent Health History Screening, with around 23 million participants at risk of hypertension and 17 million at risk of diabetes mellitus,” Pujo explained.

Furthermore, BPJS Kesehatan data also shows that in the age group under 45 years, there are more than 400,000 JKN participants diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and over one million diagnosed with hypertension. For Pujo, this condition serves as a reminder that chronic diseases are no longer experienced only by the elderly but also threaten the younger generation and those of productive age.

“BPJS Kesehatan also continues to encourage the public to adopt healthy living behaviours, including through Young Prolanis, Health History Screening, and health education. Today’s Health Fun Run is one means of inviting the public to make physical activity a habit as part of a sustainable healthy lifestyle,” Pujo said.

The hope is that the spirit built through the Health Fun Run will not stop with today’s event but will become a habit in daily life. According to Pujo, the more people who are healthy and productive, the stronger the foundation for the sustainability of the JKN Programme in the future.

“Strengthening the culture of healthy living is part of BPJS Kesehatan’s support for President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita in building superior human resources. Through the spirit of mutual cooperation and the strengthening of promotive and preventive efforts within the JKN Programme, BPJS Kesehatan is optimistic it can contribute to realising a healthy, productive, and competitive generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” Pujo stated.

At the same event, the President’s Special Envoy for Youth Generation and Arts Workers Development, Raffi Ahmad, said that the spirit of mutual cooperation is the main essence of the JKN Programme. Through this spirit, healthy participants help those who are sick, and those who are able help those who are less able, ensuring all participants receive sustainable health protection.

“Mutual cooperation is a value that must be continuously upheld. The public is also reminded to maintain their health by adopting a healthy lifestyle from an early age. For the younger generation, do not delay starting healthy living habits because maintaining health can be done through consuming healthy food, exercising regularly, and adopting a healthy lifestyle,” Raffi said.

Raffi stated that through regular Fun Run activities, BPJS Kesehatan has taught that health does not start tomorrow but begins early.

“Health consists of two things: it starts from the heart and transfers to the brain. If we intend to be healthy, surely the mindset in the brain will immediately be moved. Health is expensive, so we must take care of our health from an early age,” Raffi asserted.
