Jakarta (ANTARA) - BPJS Kesehatan has launched the Saving for National Health Insurance Contributions programme (NADI JKN) to help participants prepare their premium funds gradually and avoid difficulties in raising the full amount when payment falls due.

President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito, said NADI JKN is one of the strategies for retaining and reactivating participants in order to safeguard the continuity of public health protection, whilst also supporting improved activity rates among JKN programme participants.

“As of 30 June 2026, JKN membership coverage had reached 98.60 per cent of Indonesia’s total population. However, the participant activity rate stood at 80.25 per cent, which shows there are still participants who are inactive due to various factors, including late payment or an inability to pay premiums on time,” said Pujo in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Pujo added that the NADI JKN programme is a means for participants to prepare for premium payments in a lighter, more planned manner, so that they can keep their membership active and obtain continuous health protection.

Under the digital-collective scheme, participants register through partner platforms such as digital applications and community ecosystems that have collaborated with BPJS Kesehatan. Participants then save regularly, for example daily or weekly, using features provided by the partner.

Once the accumulated funds are sufficient, the partner will pay the participant’s JKN premium through a virtual account connected to BPJS Kesehatan’s system.

BPJS Kesehatan is currently working with PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia Tbk, targeting participants who work as online motorcycle-taxi drivers.

BPJS Kesehatan is currently conducting trials at five branch offices — South Jakarta, Pangkalpinang, Boyolali, Banyuwangi and Pare-Pare — in collaboration with partners such as cooperatives, village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) and community institutions.

“Going forward, we hope the NADI JKN programme can be expanded to reach more participant segments, including broadening cooperation with various digital application providers that people are already familiar with,” said Pujo.
