BPJS Kesehatan: JKN Requirement for SIM Registration to Boost Participant Activity

Jakarta (ANTARA) - BPJS Kesehatan Membership Director Akmal Budi Yulianto stated that the Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) requirement for driving licence (SIM) registration will be implemented nationally to encourage active participation among BPJS Kesehatan members. “To address inactive membership, one method is through a mix of public services. What is already running includes processing Police Record Certificates (SKCK), where one of the requirements now is having active BPJS, including land certificates from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs. For SIM, it has actually been piloted in several locations; if this runs smoothly, it may be applied nationally,” he said when met at the BPJS Kesehatan office in Jakarta on Tuesday. “For SIM, for example, if someone owns a motorbike and has a SIM C, or owns a car and has a SIM A, with this kind of cooperation method, those who have the ability will inevitably have to pay. If this runs smoothly, it might be implemented at the national level, but of course there will be an evaluation process. The main goal is to encourage activity,” he stated. He explained that JKN carries a significant financing burden. Therefore, the mutual cooperation method of BPJS Kesehatan, where people with higher economic status help pay the contributions of those with lower economic status, can reduce this burden. “So, to encourage those who are able to contribute, so they can help other groups who are struggling. That is the principle of gotong royong, cross-subsidisation,” Akmal said. Akmal explained that regarding the use of JKN for SIM registration, a pilot programme has already been conducted in Medan, North Sumatra, and will be continued to the national level. “The pilot was previously in Medan, and soon there will be another location in Java,” he said.
