BPJS Kesehatan has ensured that all participants in the National Health Insurance Programme (JKN) can continue to access healthcare services during the Eid 2026 holiday and mudik (homecoming) period, both in their home regions and at their travel destinations.

This was announced by BPJS Kesehatan Chief Director Prihati Pujowaskito during a press conference on holiday services broadcast online by BPJS Kesehatan’s Kupang Branch Office on Monday, 9 March, in the afternoon.

“BPJS Kesehatan is committed to ensuring that all JKN participants continue to have access to the healthcare services they need, whether within or outside their registered primary healthcare facility (FKTP) location,” said Prihati.

She explained that JKN healthcare services are portable in nature, allowing participants to receive healthcare services even outside their registered primary healthcare facilities.

In addition, BPJS Kesehatan will establish mudik posts at several points estimated to be centres of high traveller traffic. These posts will operate from 13 to 16 March 2026.

According to her, at these posts, travellers can utilise various services such as health consultations, relaxation facilities, basic health examinations, medication provision, ambulance services, and simple emergency care.

“Travellers experiencing fatigue or minor health disturbances can have vital sign checks such as blood pressure measurement and receive first aid at the BPJS Kesehatan mudik posts,” she explained.

The mudik posts will be located at several strategic locations frequented by travellers, including Merak Port, Pulo Gebang Terminal in East Jakarta, Cipularang Toll Rest Area, Cipali Toll Rest Area, Ungaran Toll Rest Area, Masaran Toll Rest Area, Purabaya Terminal in Sidoarjo, and Soekarno-Hatta Port in Makassar.

Akmal Budi Yulianto, BPJS Kesehatan’s Membership Director, added that the organisation has placed 126 branch offices on standby during the Eid holiday to ensure membership services remain accessible to the public.

“We ensure that participants can check their membership status, obtain service information, and file complaints during the holiday period,” said Akmal.

BPJS Kesehatan offices will be open on 18, 20, 23, and 24 March 2026 during the Eid holiday, operating from 08.00 to 13.30 local time.

Meanwhile, Abdi Kurniawan Purba, BPJS Kesehatan’s Healthcare Service Assurance Director, stated that the organisation is preparing several ease-of-access measures for JKN participants during the mudik phase.

According to Abdi, BPJS Kesehatan has six service commitments that serve as guidelines for participant services. One of these is that participants can seek treatment at their travel destination by simply showing their ID card or NIK (national identification number) without needing to bring administrative document photocopies.

Furthermore, participants will not be charged additional fees, length of care will be adjusted according to medical indication, and healthcare facilities will continue to serve patients from outside their region.

“If a participant falls ill whilst away from home, they can still receive treatment at primary healthcare facilities such as clinics or doctor’s practices that work with BPJS Kesehatan, with a maximum of three visits during the period when JKN membership remains active,” Abdi explained.

He added that in emergency situations, participants can go directly to a hospital without needing a referral from a primary healthcare facility.

To support these services, BPJS Kesehatan currently works with 23,532 primary healthcare facilities, 3,189 main clinics and hospitals, and 5,025 pharmacies serving the Referral Return Programme (PRB) and chronic disease patients throughout Indonesia.

Furthermore, during the Eid holiday, information and complaint services remain available through various channels, including BPJS SATU officers and Information and Complaint Handling Centres (PIPP) at partner hospitals.

According to him, participants can also utilise the Care Center 165 service, the PANDAWA service at 0811-8165-165, and the Mobile JKN application to access healthcare service information, check membership status, and file complaints.

For participants in the Referral Return Programme (PRB) or patients with chronic diseases, BPJS Kesehatan also provides convenience by allowing early medication collection—up to seven days before medication supply runs out during the Eid holiday period.

“Participants simply need to visit a primary healthcare facility to obtain a medication prescription, then redeem the medication at a pharmacy working with BPJS Kesehatan, including at their travel destination,” said Abdi.

BPJS Kesehatan also continues to provide financing guarantee coverage in certain traffic accident cases. If an accident is isolated and not a workplace accident, the cost can be covered by BPJS Kesehatan as long as the participant has active JKN status and is accompanied by a police report.

For traffic accidents involving more than one vehicle, treatment costs will first be borne by Jasa Raharja up to a certain limit, then can be continued by BPJS Kesehatan if treatment costs exceed that limit.

The public planning to travel for mudik is urged to ensure their JKN membership status remains active, maintain their health condition during travel, and utilise the various digital services that have been provided.

“Before travelling, ensure that your and your family’s JKN membership status is active, maintain your health during the journey, and take advantage of the digital service conveniences that BPJS Kesehatan has provided,” said Abdi.
