BPJS Kesehatan Encourages Use of OSS Ecosystem to Strengthen Business Compliance

Strengthening business compliance is a key factor in ensuring workers and their families remain protected under the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. To expand this protection, BPJS Kesehatan is promoting interoperability with the Online Single Submission (OSS) ecosystem, which currently encompasses millions of business entities.

Director of Membership at BPJS Kesehatan, Akmal Budi Yulianto, stated that strengthening business compliance cannot be achieved solely through administrative approaches but requires an integrated system across agencies. With better integration, business entities can obtain information regarding JKN membership obligations while ensuring their workers are protected.

“Collaboration with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM is a crucial part of strengthening the sustainability of the JKN Program. Going forward, this synergy needs to be further reinforced through system interoperability and enhanced business compliance, so that JKN protection for workers and their families can be expanded and maintained,” Akmal said during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Todotua Pasaribu on Thursday.

Akmal explained that business compliance is directly linked to the sustainability of worker protection. When workers and their family members are registered and maintain active JKN participant status, access to healthcare services can be preserved when needed. He added that BPJS Kesehatan views the OSS ecosystem as a space that can be utilised to strengthen information dissemination and business compliance. Utilising OSS is also expected to make information regarding JKN membership obligations more accessible to business actors within the business licensing ecosystem.

“Strengthening this ecosystem is not only about the number of registered business entities but also ensuring that workers’ JKN membership remains active. This way, JKN protection for workers does not stop once they are registered as participants but is maintained throughout their employment,” Akmal said.

Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Todotua Pasaribu noted that the OSS ecosystem, which covers around 17 million business entities, opens opportunities for enhanced collaboration with BPJS Kesehatan. Of that number, approximately 16.5 million are MSMEs and 500,000 are medium to large enterprises. He affirmed that this coverage could be utilised to strengthen system integration while optimising OSS as an information channel for JKN registration and compliance for business actors.
