JAKARTA - The Director General of BPJS Kesehatan, Major General TNI (Ret.) Prihati Pujowaskito, stated that his organisation disburses Rp 500 billion daily for National Health Insurance (JKN) services.

According to Pujo, BPJS Kesehatan conducts JKN transactions with more than 23,000 clinics and 3,170 hospitals across Indonesia.

“This provides healthcare funding for JKN participants, with up to 2 million health transactions per day. The funds amount to Rp 500 billion daily,” Pujo revealed during the MoU and PKS event of BPJS Kesehatan with the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions Development, Ministry of Cooperatives, BGN, and Manpower Planning Development of the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Manpower, in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Of that total, 81.5 per cent or around 266 million are active JKN participants.

“We report that BPJS now has 283 million participants. Of that number, 81.5 per cent or more than 266 million are active. This means the coverage of protection is at that level,” he said.

Despite the large number of BPJS Kesehatan participants, Pujo conveyed that his organisation has the Quick Wins Programme for the First 100 Working Days of the BPJS Kesehatan Directorate 2026-2031.

One of them is the expansion of JKN in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T) through cooperation with the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions Development (Kemendes PDT).

“We hope this can be a strategic step in strengthening collaboration between state institutions to support the sustainability of the JKN programme as one of the national strategic programmes in the social welfare protection system,” he added.

Yandi revealed that Indonesia consists of 75,266 villages, thus requiring compact cooperation.

“If we go around, it would take 200 years. Villages play an important role, thus the President’s Asta Cita, which is to build from the villages for economic equality,” he said.

“Insha Allah, we will implement it, Mr Director General, so that there will be collaboration later. The JKN programme must be tackled together, we must raise awareness,” added Yandri.
