Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President Director of the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) for Health, Prihati Pujowaskito, has said the Rp20 trillion fund injection for the sustainability of the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme can be disbursed once the regulation is signed. “The funds can be disbursed if there is a regulation stating that the asset deficit condition has met the provisions. If the regulation has been signed, disbursement is expected to be carried out as soon as possible. The hope is that the funds can be received as early as next month or at the latest by August 2026,” said Prihati Pujowaskito in Jakarta on Tuesday. Without additional intervention, he noted, BPJS Kesehatan is estimated to only be able to survive until July 2027 before experiencing a default. Pujo, as he is known, acknowledged that BPJS Kesehatan’s financial condition shows a claims ratio reaching 108 per cent, meaning expenditure is greater than revenue. However, this deficit condition is not a new problem. “A similar situation has been experienced since around 2018–2019. The deficit was not caused by the current board of directors’ leadership. Therefore, BPJS’s main focus is maintaining sustainability through strengthening risk pooling, strong funding, quality and cost control, and improving service quality for participants,” he explained. BPJS Kesehatan has also launched the Rehab 3.0 innovation to make it easier for participants with contribution arrears to pay more flexibly. “We launched an application that makes it easier for inactive participants who are in arrears to make payments in stages. So, what used to be monthly can now be weekly, even daily. Once again, the essence of this is convenience for participants and easing their burden in paying arrears,” said BPJS Kesehatan President Director Prihati Pujowaskito.
