BPJS Kesehatan, Indonesia’s social health insurance provider, will cover medical costs resulting from traffic accidents during the Eid holiday travel season this year.

Abdi Kurniawan Purba, Director of Health Service Assurance at BPJS Kesehatan, announced at a press conference at BPJS Kesehatan headquarters on Monday (9 March 2026) that the scheme will fully cover costs arising from single-vehicle accidents, as verified by police reports.

“BPJS will cover single-vehicle accidents that do not involve any other party and are confirmed by police reports. BPJS will cover all associated costs,” Abdi stated.

Additionally, BPJS Kesehatan will serve as a supplementary insurer for multi-vehicle accidents. Under the arrangement, Jasa Raharja insurance will cover the first 20 million rupiah, with BPJS covering any amounts exceeding this threshold in accordance with applicable regulations.

The health scheme is also guaranteeing continuity of care for members with chronic conditions, including those enrolled in the Good Referral Programme (PRB). Members will be able to obtain chronic medications at hospitals and PRB medications at primary healthcare facilities (FKTP) according to established guidelines, ensuring uninterrupted treatment during the extended Eid holiday period.

These services are available to active members of the National Health Insurance (JKN). Akmal Budi Yulianto, Director of Membership at BPJS Kesehatan, advised members to verify their active membership status before undertaking holiday travel to ensure continued access to BPJS services during their journey and at their destination.

“We urge members to confirm their membership status is active before travelling during the Eid holiday season,” Akmal emphasised.
