BPJS Health: 345,192 Batam residents registered for PBI Health Insurance
Batam (ANTARA) - BPJS Health Batam Branch, Riau Islands (Kepri), records that 345,192 local residents have become participants in the Penerima Bantuan Iuran Jaminan Kesehatan (PBI JK) until April 2026.
The Head of Human Resources, General Affairs, and Communication at BPJS Health Batam Branch, Ilham, in Batam on Thursday, stated that based on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) achievement data, the total number of Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) participants in Batam City reaches 1,346,369 people, while the population is 1,365,266 people.
“This means that almost the entire Batam community has health insurance protection,” he said.
He explained that the PBI JK segment consists of participants whose premiums are covered by the central government, especially for underprivileged communities.
“The number of more than 345,000 participants makes this the second largest group after the wage-earning workers of business entities (PPU BU) segment, which reaches 562,610 people,” he said.
The high number of PBI JK participants demonstrates the important role of the state in ensuring access to healthcare services for economically vulnerable communities.
“We also urge the community to ensure that their membership status remains active so they can access healthcare services without obstacles,” he said.
In addition, the public is encouraged to utilise promotional and preventive services, such as health screenings through the Mobile JKN application.
With nearly comprehensive UHC achievement, Batam is now in a strategic position to improve the quality of healthcare services, not only in terms of access but also the quality of services for all JKN participants.
