BPJS Employment Swiftly Assures Coverage for KRL Accident Victims in Bekasi
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (BPJS TK) has acted swiftly to provide assurance of protection to participants who were victims of the train accident between the Kereta Rel Listrik (KRL) and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek in Bekasi on Monday evening.
As a form of response, the Chairman of the BPJS TK Supervisory Board, Dedi Hardianto, along with Director of Services Trisna Sonjaya and Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto, directly inspected the handling of victims at RSUD Bekasi and RS Primaya Bekasi Timur on Tuesday (28/4).
During the inspection, BPJS TK ensured that all victim participants receive optimal medical services and guaranteed full treatment costs until recovery in accordance with medical indications.
Dedi emphasised that the presence of BPJS TK represents the state’s commitment to providing protection to workers. “This is the obligation of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to participants who experience misfortune. We ensure they are truly served,” he stated.
He also appreciated the collaboration between local government and medical personnel in handling the victims. According to him, this synergy has proven to provide real benefits to affected participants.
BPJS TK Services Director Trisna Sonjaya stated that they immediately coordinated with various parties since the incident occurred. “We moved quickly to ensure all victim participants receive the best handling,” she said.
To date, 30 victims are recorded as active BPJS TK participants. Of this number, 26 are still undergoing treatment, while the other four have passed away.
Trisna added that, in addition to ensuring medical handling, BPJS TK is also accelerating the payment of benefits to the heirs of deceased participants. “We ensure that the rights of participants and their families can be received immediately as part of proactive and responsive services,” she said.
BPJS TK is also continuing to monitor the development of victims’ conditions and coordinating intensively if there are updates to the data.
Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto affirmed that the government is fully present in handling the incident, from evacuation to recovery. “The government continues to be present for the community, from the evacuation process to healing,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of synergy between the government and BPJS TK in providing protection to workers. In addition, he reminded employers to ensure all workers are registered in the social security programme.
“Employers who have not yet registered their workers are urged to participate immediately, so that the benefits of this protection can be felt widely,” he stated.
