BPJS Duo Strengthen Synergy to Ensure Workers Are Protected by Social Security
BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan are strengthening their synergy to ensure employers comply with the administration of social security programmes. This was formalised through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Synergy in Joint Supervision and Compliance Inspection of Social Security Programme Administration in Jakarta on Monday (7/9).
Akmal Budi Yulianto, Director of Membership at BPJS Kesehatan, said the cooperation is a joint step by the two agencies to strengthen oversight of employer compliance through Joint Supervision and Inspection. These efforts have been reinforced by data exchanges carried out by the two institutions four times a year.
“The data exchange is an important foundation for matching data, strengthening supervision, and identifying potential employer non-compliance. Going forward, the use of this data will be pushed further — not only exchanged and matched, but optimised to determine targets for joint supervision and inspection, as well as to support follow-up on any non-compliance found,” Akmal explained in a statement on Monday (7/9/2026).
Akmal said strengthening employer compliance remains a key priority, particularly in ensuring all workers are registered and that the worker and wage data submitted are accurate. These efforts are essential to guarantee that every worker receives their social security protection rights in full.
“From the membership side, we want to make sure that workers who should be registered truly are registered, that worker data is submitted correctly and completely, and that any discrepancies found are promptly corrected,” he said.
As of July 2026, BPJS Kesehatan had conducted joint supervision and inspections together with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and regional manpower offices on 2,429 companies. This oversight forms part of efforts to ensure employer compliance while guaranteeing that every worker receives their entitled JKN and employment social security protection.
From the financial side, Bayu Teja Muliawan, Director of Finance and Investment at BPJS Kesehatan, stressed that strengthening premium payment compliance is not only about employers meeting their obligations, but also supports the effectiveness of premium revenue management and the sustainability of the JKN programme.
Bayu further expressed hope that this synergy would be applied consistently from the central level down to branch offices, through ongoing coordination and communication.
“That way, supervision can run more effectively and in a coordinated manner, while also encouraging employer compliance, particularly in premium payments,” Bayu added.
Meanwhile, Agung Nugroho, Director of Membership at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, said the cooperation will be continually evaluated through monitoring and evaluation carried out once a year.
Agung said the evaluation is expected to show the extent to which non-compliance can be resolved, while measuring the growing number of workers obtaining social security protection.
“This synergy is expected to strengthen compliance and oversight in the administration of social security for workers. Through the synergy of BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, we hope to build an increasingly robust data ecosystem, including in safeguarding the security and protection of workers’ personal data,” Agung affirmed.
