The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has confirmed the strengthening of human resource (HR) competence in the field of halal product assurance (JPH) in the regions ahead of the implementation of the 2026 Halal Mandate on 18 October 2026.

BPJPH Principal Secretary Muhammad Aqil Irham, in an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, said that supervisory readiness in the regions is one of the key factors in ensuring the effective implementation of JPH policy.

“Strengthening JPH supervisors in the regions also aims to reinforce increasingly effective JPH supervisory governance,” said Aqil Irham.

He further stated that strengthening JPH human resources is not only part of efforts to ensure the implementation of JPH, but also to ensure business operator compliance in accordance with statutory provisions.

“With the support of competent supervisory personnel, the implementation of supervision can provide certainty to business operators in fulfilling their obligations to realise protection for the public,” said Aqil Irham.

He assessed that this role needs to be supported by supervisors who possess competence, integrity and professionalism so that they are able to carry out supervisory functions objectively, effectively and accountably.

“JPH supervisors have a strategic role in ensuring the implementation of JPH and business operator compliance in accordance with provisions. Therefore, the competence, integrity and professionalism of supervisors must continue to be strengthened so that they are able to carry out their duties objectively, effectively and accountably,” said Aqil Irham.

Meanwhile, BPJPH is also strengthening regulations through BPJPH Regulation Number 2 of 2026 concerning the Imposition of Administrative Sanctions for Violations in the Implementation of Halal Product Assurance.

The regulation, promulgated on 5 June 2026 by the Ministry of Law, serves as a guideline for the implementation of administrative law enforcement in the implementation of JPH, while strengthening legal certainty, accountability and public protection within the national halal ecosystem.
