BPJPH signs halal product certification cooperation with Morocco, extending to China
As cooperation strengthens, cross-border movement of products will become easier. Ultimately, this will strengthen the mutually beneficial bilateral synergies for both sides.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government, through the Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH), is establishing cooperation and recognition of Halal Product Assurance (JPH) with Morocco, Italy, France, South Korea, and China.
“This cooperation not only strengthens the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and our partner countries but also opens wider opportunities for halal products from partner countries to enter and be accepted in international markets,” said Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of BPJPH, in a statement from Jakarta on Thursday.
The first cooperation is with the Moroccan Institute of Standardization (IMANOR) as a mutual recognition of halal certificates between the two countries (Mutual Recognition Agreement/MRA).
Furthermore, BPJPH also signed a Recognition Agreement (RA) with several foreign halal bodies that have met Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) standards.
Haikal said the effort is expected to strengthen confidence and mutual recognition of each country’s halal system and to further open cross-border trade in halal products.
“As the cooperation strengthens, cross-border movement of products will become easier. Ultimately, this will strengthen the mutually beneficial bilateral synergies for both sides,” Haikal said.
According to him, halal is no longer understood merely as an aspect of fulfilling religious requirements, but has evolved into a symbol of quality and global standards.
“Halal today has evolved into a symbol of quality assurance, a healthy product, and a premium standard that is globally accepted. The world now sees halal as a guarantee of product quality, safety, and traceability,” said Haikal.
“We see how countries such as China and South Korea are moving rapidly in developing the halal industry. This shows that halal has become a universal language about quality and trust,” he said.
