BPJPH Secures Muri World Record for Halal Awareness Campaign Across 2,183 Locations
The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has cemented its place in the history of public education by receiving a World Record award from the Indonesian World Records Museum (Muri). The award was given for successfully holding a synchronised Halal Obligation Socialisation event in the highest number of locations, namely 2,183 points across Indonesia on Thursday (4/6/2026). The activity, centred at Mall Pakuwon in Bekasi City, West Java, became a symbol of the massive national halal literacy movement. The socialisation reached 38 provinces and hundreds of regencies/cities by involving cross-sector synergy, ranging from regional governments, ministries, and universities to community and religious organisations. Head of BPJPH, Ahmad Haikal Hasan, who is familiarly called Babe Haikal, emphasised that this achievement is not merely an institutional feat, but tangible proof of the collective public awareness increasing. According to him, this record belongs to all elements of the nation moving together in the spirit of halal education. ‘This award is not the final goal, but a marker that halal literacy has become a national movement reaching even the most remote areas. We want to ensure that no business actor is left behind with information regarding the October 2026 Mandatory Halal policy,’ said Babe Haikal. He added that halal certification, according to the mandate of Law Number 33 of 2014, is not merely a fulfilment of regulations or a bureaucratic hurdle. On the contrary, this certification is a strategic instrument to increase product added value, expand global market access, and provide safety assurance for consumers. The urgency of accelerating this certification is also driven by significant economic data. In 2025, economic activity related to the halal supply chain was recorded as contributing 27 per cent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This positions the halal industry as an important foundation for Indonesia’s future economy. In line with this, Deputy for Development and Supervision of JPH, E.A Chuzaemi Abidin, explained that through these thousands of socialisation points, business actors received direct assistance. The materials delivered covered certification mechanisms, categories of mandatory halal products, and consultation services with Halal Product Process Companions (P3H). This world record momentum is expected to accelerate Indonesia’s transformation into a global halal producer hub, while ensuring the readiness of all business actors, especially the micro and small enterprise sector, in approaching the certification obligation deadline in October 2026.
