Ramadhan and Idul Fitri represent an important period for the business sector as consumer spending increases across various sectors. This situation simultaneously opens significant opportunities for businesses to present halal products that are of high quality and trustworthy.

Ahmad Haikal Hasan, head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), stated that during Ramadhan through Idul Fitri, demand for various products—ranging from food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, to fashion—experiences significant growth.

“Ramadhan and Idul Fitri are always moments when public consumption increases, whether for daily needs or special occasions. Therefore, halal products are increasingly sought after as public awareness of the importance of product halal status grows,” said Haikal, commonly known as Babe Haikal, in a press release received by Kompas.com on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

He believes this situation should be leveraged by businesses to introduce halal products that are not only of high quality but also competitive in the market.

According to Babe Haikal, obtaining halal certification is an important matter as a form of consumer protection whilst also increasing public confidence.

Babe Haikal added that halal labelling not only provides consumers with a sense of security and comfort but is also capable of increasing consumer trust and loyalty towards a product.

“Halal labelling provides a sense of security, comfort, and peace of mind for the public. On the other hand, this also increases consumer trust and loyalty towards a product,” he said.

Furthermore, Babe Haikal called upon all business actors to strengthen the halal industry value chain from upstream to downstream to drive national economic growth.

“Therefore, let us together strengthen the halal value chain from upstream to downstream, so that it can provide genuine contribution towards national economic growth,” he concluded.
