The Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH) has announced that a significant portion of the quota for halal certifications for the public remains available. The public or SMEs are encouraged to take advantage of this quota to ensure that the products they market are halal.

“(The free ones) as of today have reached 40%, so there is still about 60% left; the public is invited to use the free ones like that,” said Director of Halal Certification at BPJPH, Yanis, to reporters after an inspection at Kramat Jati Market, East Jakarta, on Sunday (29/3/2026).

Yanis stated that the overall quota for free halal certification processing is 1 million. In addition, the public will be charged fees.

“For (certification) self-declare, the cost is Rp 230,000 if registering independently. But the government also has a programme called Sehati; the Sehati 2024 quota of 1 million is free. The Rp 230,000 cost is borne by BPJPH’s DIPA,” he explained.

Yanis explained that for those wishing to register for halal certification, they can access the ptsp.halal.go.id website, also known as Si Halal. There are two schemes available: self-declare and regular.

“For regular on ptsp.halal.go.id, for self-declare or the simple ones, that can be on ptsp.halal.go.id and also on halalmax.halal.go.id. There are stages; you can enter our website, and the tutorials are on the BPJPH Halal Indonesia YouTube channel, like that,” he said.

He mentioned that the self-declare certification process takes a maximum of 12 days or faster. For the regular route, it can be quicker if the documents are complete.

“Yes, the longest is 42 working days, but it can be faster than that because, for example, when the LPH conducts an inspection, it takes time; that can extend the period like that. It can be done in one go if faster,” he clarified.

Furthermore, BPJPH is also taking proactive steps to reach out to traders in markets. For instance, at Kramat Jati Market, which was directly inspected by the Head of BPJPH, Babeh Haikal, traders are urged to obtain halal certifications.

“Yes, we will coordinate with the LP3H team, the assisting team that will come down. If possible with self-declare, we use self-declare; if it does not meet the self-declare criteria, we direct them to the regular one like that,” he added.
