BPJPH Partners with ESQ Corp to Promote Mandatory Halal Certification
The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) and ESQ Corp signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on organisational culture development, human resources, and talent management at BPJPH’s office in Jakarta today. The collaboration is a strategic step to strengthen organisational culture, human resource integrity, and talent development to support the acceleration of the national halal product assurance programme being pushed by the government.
BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan stressed that the concept of halal has now evolved into a universally recognised standard. According to him, various developed countries hold different views on halal but share a common understanding of its strategic value.
“America views halal as a symbol of health — halal is a symbol of health. Korea sees halal as a double standard of cleanliness — halal is double clean. China considers halal an economic opportunity — halal is good economic,” Haikal said in a written statement on Thursday (18/6/2026).
He added that halal is no longer merely a religious issue but has become a quality standard acceptable to the entire global community. “Meanwhile, the United Kingdom links halal with environmental sustainability — halal is going back to green, halal is save the world,” he said.
ESQ Corp Founder Ary Ginanjar Agustian expressed his appreciation for BPJPH’s grand vision in building a national halal ecosystem. He affirmed that ESQ is ready to provide full support through its alumni network, which reaches 2.5 million people across Indonesia.
“BPJPH has a very noble vision, especially since halal certification will become mandatory starting this October. We came here to support that programme. ESQ’s alumni network of 2.5 million people will help socialise and ensure this programme succeeds,” Ary said.
According to Ary, if ESQ was previously known for its movement to build clean and integrous hearts, that spirit is now being expanded to support the strengthening of a halal lifestyle across various sectors of life. “In the past, ESQ spoke about a heart that is made halal; now the food, cosmetics, and all products must also be halal. This is part of a major transformation that we must support together,” he said.
Ary also emphasised that the success of BPJPH’s grand mission is determined not only by regulation but also by the quality of the human resources executing it. Therefore, building a strong organisational culture, high integrity, and precise talent management are crucial factors in supporting the success of the national halal programme.
“With a mission this large, it must certainly be supported by a strong corporate culture, strong integrity, and precise talent management. Ultimately, the mission is carried out by people who have integrity and talent. That is what we will do to support the success of this programme,” Ary concluded.
