BPJPH Integrates Halal Certification Services into SAPA UMKM Platform

The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) is ready to integrate halal certification services into the SAPA UMKM digital platform, initiated by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). BPJPH Principal Secretary Muhammad Aqil Irham stated that the collaboration through SAPA UMKM aligns with BPJPH’s efforts to continuously simplify and expand access to halal certification services for business actors, particularly UMKM. “Halal certification is an important facility for business actors to comply with regulations while strengthening consumer trust and product competitiveness. Through this collaboration and service integration, access to halal certification facilitation is expected to become easier and more targeted,” Aqil Irham said. He further stated that this collaboration with the Ministry of UMKM is part of efforts to expand and simplify business actors’ access to halal certification services integrated with various UMKM empowerment programmes. The initiative, part of the Programme for Integration and Reorientation of UMKM Empowerment (Prokesra), is directed at synergising various government programmes to be more effective and targeted. Aqil Irham expressed hope that halal certification services can be connected with other empowerment support, allowing UMKM actors to obtain easier and more integrated access according to their business needs. According to him, UMKM empowerment requires integrated support because business actors’ needs are not limited to just one aspect. “Halal certification is an important part of this support chain, alongside business legality, financing, capacity building, product development, and marketing,” he said. He added that BPJPH has continuously built various collaborative synergies with ministries, institutions, regional governments, business associations, community organisations, professional organisations, and other stakeholders to strengthen services and the implementation of Halal Product Assurance (JPH). The collaboration is directed not only at facilitating halal certification but also includes strengthening socialisation, education, literacy, mentoring, and various forms of capacity building for business actors to better understand and comply with halal product assurance regulatory provisions. Furthermore, Aqil Irham said that strengthening this collaboration becomes increasingly strategic ahead of the mandatory halal certification enforcement in October 2026. “With the support of various parties, BPJPH seeks to ensure that business actors, especially UMKM, not only know their obligations but also obtain access to information, mentoring, and services needed to fulfil halal certification requirements,” he said.
