The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has highlighted the critical importance of readiness within upstream sectors, such as slaughterhouses for cattle and poultry (RPH/RPU), as well as the preparedness of the processing industry, certification, and supervision processes. The agency is also focusing on the readiness of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) ahead of the mandatory halal implementation scheduled for October 2026.

“Our Halal Product Assurance supervision is being prepared to ensure that the implementation of Mandatory Halal proceeds according to regulations, while simultaneously providing guidance to business actors,” stated the Deputy for Coaching and Supervision of Halal Product Assurance at BPJPH, EA Chuzaemi Abidin, in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday (10/09/2026).

He also emphasised the importance of synchronising data between relevant ministries and agencies to map out which regions require accelerated progress, as well as determining the types of support needed to speed up the fulfilment of halal certification.

Previously, BPJPH conducted a coordination meeting regarding Mandatory Halal with the Office of the Presidential Staff (KSP), the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Trade, and the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS).

This coordination meeting is part of the government’s consolidation efforts to ensure that all related parties are moving in a unified direction in preparing for the implementation of Mandatory Halal.
