JAKARTA — The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has stressed that the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) is a critical aspect of food service operations, including within the Nutrition Provision Service Units (SPPG).

“We want the public to receive not only nutritious and safe food, but also halal certification. For Indonesians, halal is a vital part of food service quality,” said BPJPH Chief Ahmad Haikal Hasan in a statement on Friday.

Through proper system implementation, the halal integrity of products can be traced from raw materials, processing, storage, to serving beneficiaries.

Haikal added that SPPG halal certification is not merely administrative, but part of building quality, accountable, and trustworthy food service governance.

Therefore, BPJPH continues to strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration to expedite SPPG halal certification in support of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

Haikal stressed the importance of collaboration between local governments, BPJPH, halal inspection agencies, and all relevant stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of halal assurance in MBG food services.

“We cannot work alone. Accelerating SPPG halal certification requires collaboration from all parties to ensure MBG services deliver nutritious, hygienic, safe, and halal food for the public,” he said.

Through strengthened collaboration, he hopes SPPG halal certification processes across regions will proceed faster and more efficiently, ensuring all MBG food services comply with halal regulations.

He also noted that the MBG programme’s success depends not only on nutritional standards but also on hygiene and comprehensive halal assurance.

He emphasised that these three aspects are inseparable in delivering quality food services for the public.

“Since November 2025, we have consistently stressed that food service operations must be supported by three key aspects: nutritional standards, hygiene standards, and halal certification. Halal is not just a label—it involves processes, standards, and responsibilities that must be upheld,” Haikal said.
